You bought WHAT!?!

I just watched a funny video from Russell Brunson... Ya, I'm pretty sure that his wife was kinda upset. You see, his accountant just showed him that he's spent OVER $280k on "internet marketing" products over the past few years. So - I guess it makes sense WHY she was kinda upset... BUT... YOU should be happy... do you want to know why? How would you like his "cliff notes" on what actually worked, and how to do it? That would save you a LOT of time and money, wouldn't it? Ya, I thought so. :) He just posted up this video that shows you what he learned in all the $280k of courses. What works, and what doesn't. I hope it helps: http://bit.ly/wjWIfn

P.S. – oh ya, forgot to tell you… on the video he actually GIVES you a free employee for a month too (that way you can outsource all this stuff, without having to pay a fortune until AFTER it’s already making you money). Is it OK if I over deliver…? Good, I thought you wouldn’t mind. :)http://bit.ly/wjWIfn

Welcome to Part 1 of my “Eat That Frog!” Review Series.

For those of you that are reading this post for the first time and might be a bit confused about just exactly what I am talking about, especially with this unusual title about a frog…check out my previous post HERE so you can get an idea of what this is about. Then come back to this post and read on. :)

So lets start with the introduction of the book. How many of you actually read the introduction?

I know sometimes you want to just jump right into what ever your reading and skip that crucial section of a book. Some people read it after they are finished with the book because they feel it gives away too many spoilers, with this book, reading the introduction really got me excited about my journey of this read.

In the beginning, the author Brian Tracy, starts by expressing the need to be selective…he says, “Your ability to select your most important task at each moment, and then to get started on that task and to get it done both quickly and well, will probably have more of an impact on your success than any other quality or skill you can develop.”

If your like me, you have more than one task to complete daily, and sometimes several seem like they are THE most important. I sometimes spend to much time trying to decide which task to start and wasting too much time doing it. When I look at a task, the first thing that comes to mind is which one is the hardest and which will take the longest…more on that in a moment…

The Truth About Frogs…

Mark Twain once said…“If the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long.

Tracy then says…“Your “frog” is your biggest, most important task, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if your don’t do something about it.”

Yep, I can surely relate to this. I am one of those people that likes to put the biggest and hardest task and the bottom of the list. What I did not realize is that big frog can actually have the most important impact on my attitude and success.

Brian says there are 2 rules of frog eating…

1. If you have to eat 2 frogs, eat the ugliest one first…OK, well that is easier said than done! I mean have you ever looked at a UGLY frog and thought WOW Yum! that looks appetizing!…ah, I think NOT!

I am learning that it is all about discipline. You just have to grab that ugly frog….task…and just go for it!

2. If you have to eat a live frog at all, it doesn’t pay to sit and look at it for very long…Oh, I totally do this on a regular basis. Why I feel I need to over analyze things before I do them is beyond me. Maybe it is me trying to find out a way or excuse of why I need to not do it, or put it off.

Take Action Immediately!

“Successful, effective people are those who launch directly into their major tasks and then discipline themselves to work steadily and single-mindedly until those tasks are complete.”-Brian Tracy

In order to be successful you have to create a habit of success. Waking each morning, laying your tasks out for the day, and setting up a plan to COMPLETE them is a step towards creating a habit of success. I am a stay home mom with 3 kids that are home-schooled. Many times my days seem a jumbled mess from the moment I open my eyes. This may take time and some hard work but I have to start taking baby steps towards this goal.

Tracy lays out the Three D’s of New Habit Formation….

Decision… You have to make the decision that you are going to create this habit.

Discipline… You have to actually put into effect and practice these habits and over time they will become automatic.

Determination… Be strong in your commitment to not only complete your task,  but be committed to making the routine a permanent part of your personality.

Doesn’t it feel good when you complete a task? I think it does. Big or small when you get something done…even something like folding that load of clothes, cleaning something or completing a big assignment in school or work. It just plain ROCKS when your done and its is behind you. :)

I learned that when you complete an important task, it triggers your brain to release endorphins which gives you a natural high, and makes you feel positive and confident…pretty cool huh!

Are you taking the time to visualize you being successful?Did you know that your mental picture of yourself has a powerful effect on your behavior and success?

Yep it does, and when you visualize yourself on the inside completing your tasks or improving on the weak areas of your life it actually starts to transform itself in your outer life. Now, this is not an overnight process..back to the baby step thing. Start with one thing at a time…start imagining yourself as being more focused..and go from there.

In closing to the introduction of Eat That Frog! Brian Tracy states, “When you train yourself, through repetition and practice, to overcome procrastination and get your most important tasks completed quickly, you will move yourself onto the fast track in your life and career and step on the accelerator.”

I don’t know about you, but I am ready to jump in that sports car of life and step on that accelerator, but first I have to visualize myself in that car. I am preparing myself to Eat That Frog!…well in my case, eat many frogs…lol

Eat That Frog!...WHAT??!!??

A new friend of mine that I connected with on Facebook a couple months ago told me she was sending me something in the mail. We have never actually met in person only chatted on the phone and on facebook but from what I can tell so far we have similar personalities and a lot in common.

Last week it arrived and I was excited to tear open the package. She is such a fun new friend that I had no clue what  it could be. I LOVE getting surprises in the mail…as long as they are not bills….lol :) So Carla, please don’t send me any bills, OK? ;)

So as I open the package, I quickly notice that it is a book, and at first glance it appeared to be a children’s book…well, by looking quickly at the outer cover. I mean seriously…look at it!

OK, I know…don’t judge a book by its cover right? Well I mean, come on…its got this HUGE image of a frog on it, bright green and white hardback binding and it’s titled “Eat That Frog!” Why else would she be sending me a book about eating a frog, must be a fun little gift for my kids to read, right? I flip open the cover to read a personal message from my friend…nope this book was for me! ha ha!

So as I looked at it more I read the subtitle and this is what it says…“21 Great ways to stop procrastinating and get more done in less time”. Oh yes, this HAS to be for my kids!…ah, nope..remember this is for me. So then I start thinking, my new friend must think I am a slacker, hug?… Did a little fly tell her I hated doing house work and only pick out the fun things to do during the day? Just kidding Carla, I know you don’t really think that. :) But seriously, what did this book have to do with me and why did she send this to me?

So for a day or two this book sat on my desk, just staring at me. I just kept thinking I guess there is something I need to be learning from this “children’s looking” book?

My kids noticed it and really thought it was for them. They laughed as I told them my friend sent it to me, and she feels I need to read it. Mom reading a kids book, yep you can image what my teenage kids thought about that….lol.

The other day as I was waiting for something to download while working online, I caught myself staring at the cover again and pondering this books meaning. I picked it up and started to read the introduction. I was pretty surprised!

This is not a children’s book (but yes kids could benefit from it too I am sure)

Brian Tracy is the books author and I knew I had heard his name somewhere…so a quick search on Google proved correct that I had seen his website before, and heard his name in the world of motivational speakers and life coaches. Realizing that, I figured that this book was going to be a good read…but how good? After I finished the introduction I knew this was going to be a fun, entertaining, get to the point book. I was excited!

So I have decided to dedicate a section of blog posts to my journey and review of this book with such a cute and inviting little title….“Eat That Frog!”

Do you already own this book or have you read it already? If so great! Follow along in this journey with me, and feel free to share your comments and thoughts as we venture through together. :)

I hope your hungry…because we are going to prepare to “Eat That Frog!”

Better than the one before....

Happy Monday!

I recently had some wonderful words of wisdom passed down the line to me. I really enjoyed what I read and its meaning. I was compelled to share it with you….my readers. :)

Maybe this inspirational wisdom is something that you needed to hear today and might help or build you up in some way…

Better than the one before….

There is no law that says we have to be hurt by criticism. In fact, we can choose to thrive on it.

No, you don’t want to intentionally offend people or do truly foolish things.
But there’s no reason why you ever have to let anyone’s opinion of you get you down.

This is your power, not theirs.

It’s nice to have positive feedback. Yet it can be far more useful and instructive to receive negative feedback.

Yes it is good to know what we’re doing right. Yet the biggest potential for improvement comes when we understand what we are doing wrong.

Instead of being defensive or resentful about the criticism you receive, be appreciative. If someone has a problem with you, let it be that person’s problem and let it be your gain.

You are absolutely worthy, apart from what anyone else may think, and fully capable of continual improvement.

Welcome the criticism and the opportunities it brings, and use it to make each day, each effort, each experience even better than the one before.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this…I know for myself this message came at a time for me when I needed to take a step back, and look at what I needed to do to improve myself not only a personal level, but on a business level as well.

Criticism can be a good thing, its how we respond to it that develops us and makes us better. Contrary to what we “think” we don’t know it all.

It’s good to have someone show you a new way of looking at things and to help you step out of your comfort zone. :)
